CLOISONNE ENAMEL SAKE POT

A cloisonné enamel tea or sake pot, the body of flattened discus form finely worked in gilt wire with panels of flowers and foliage, the ground covered in densely worked precious objects (the Takaramono) the underside with stylised chrysanthemum on rippling water, on three short feet.

Height: 14cm diameter 15cm

Unsigned, Attributed to Inaba Shichiho

A vase with remarkably similar flower and stylised wave design was exhibited at the Kyoto exhibition Spring 1896, illustrated The Magazine of Japanese Art,vol 3 no.4.4
